About Kakatiya University Distance Education (CDOE/SDLCE)

Kakatiya University was established on 19th August 1976 to fulfil the aspirations of the Telangana people for higher education. It is located in the historical city of Warangal, the erstwhile seat of the Kakatiya rulers.

The Centre for Distance and Online Education, formerly known as the School of Distance Learning and Continuing Education (SDLCE),  is a wing of Kakatiya University established in 1988 to offer open and distance education programmes. The School holds the status of a Constituent College of Kakatiya University and functions as a unit under the dual-mode university. It is the largest ODL institution under a dual-mode university in the state. Presently, it offers 30 programmes, which include UG and PG programmes, and has an enrolment of about 40,000 students.

Eligibility Criteria for Kakatiya University Distance Education

UG & PG Eligibility

There is an eligibility criterion similar to that of regular courses. But there are no age restrictions.

  • UG Courses (BA, BCom, BBA, BSc): Pass in 10+2 or equivalent from a recognised board.
  • PG Courses (MA, MCom, MSc, MSW, MLISc): Bachelor’s degree in a relevant subject from a recognised university.
  • MCA: Graduation with Mathematics as a compulsory subject; selection is through ICET (entrance exam).
  • Diploma Courses: Pass in 10+2 from a recognised board.
  • Certificate & Orientation Programmes: As prescribed per individual course.

Admissions can be sought through online mode, choosing the study centre of your choice.

  2. Navigate to the Admissions section and click “Online Admission Registration”
  3. Register using your mobile number and email ID to generate login credentials
  4. Select your preferred programme and study centre
  5. Fill in all required personal and academic details
  6. Upload scanned copies of required documents
  7. Pay the application fee online or via DD/Challan
  8. Submit the form and save the acknowledgement receipt

Fee Payment Mode

The fees can be paid online at the time of submission of the application form, or through a Demand Draft drawn in favour of The Director, SDLCE, Kakatiya University, payable at Warangal from SBI/UBI, or through a Challan at the SBI Extension Counter, SDLCE Head Office, KU Campus, Warangal.

Fee Concession

Yes. The courses offered in distance mode are equivalent to regular courses as per UGC DEB rules and are valid for employment in State and Central Government.

No entrance exam is required for most programmes. However, MCA admission requires qualifying the ICET. There are no age restrictions for joining distance mode courses.

Two degree programmes cannot be allowed to be pursued simultaneously. However, a student can pursue two programmes simultaneously through distance mode or a combination of distance and regular modes — for example, one degree and one diploma/certificate, two diplomas, or two certificates.

Yes. No one can discriminate between students enrolled in distance learning and regular courses as per the notification issued by the UGC. The degrees awarded to distance learning and regular learning students are the same with no difference at all.

The UGC-DEB, New Delhi, recognises institutions and courses which fulfil its conditions according to the ODL Regulations and is the monitoring authority for all distance education institutions in the country.

Hall tickets are uploaded on the university website, and students can download them on specified dates before the examinations. Students are also informed through SMS.

If you are a permanent employee, you can take permission from your authorities and apply for admission. The university does not ask for any employer letter.

Students have the benefit of studying a course while also doing their job simultaneously. Since classes are conducted on Saturdays, Sundays, and other holidays, it will not disturb their work.
